Hanukkah!

Cassie is Jewish. And she assumes every else is as well. This morning, on the walk to school, she pointed to a Best Buy truck and said "Look! Issa dreidel truck!" You can't fault her logic:

Unrelated: this morning, right after Cassie woke up, she said to me: "I was angry yesterday when James took the penguin from the snowy coast." Nicole confirms the account. James and Cassie apparently had a real difference of opinion about the Fisher Price Little People Zoo. Cassie knows where penguins belong, and she's not shy about expressing it.

Vivian ready to go home from hospital

Nicole and Vivian came home on Friday; below is a video shot mere moments before Vivian breathed fresh air (or, at least, what passes for fresh air around here) for the first time.

As I did with Cassie, I walked home from the hospital with Vivian, this time with Charlie along for company. It was fun.

Cassie has learned to read (well, not really)

Cassie "reads" Clifford's Bathtime, a book that she loves and so has memorized. She's sitting on the potty, and says "pee pee" at one point, so she will curse me for this video when she is a teenager.

Why is Clifford running away? Because it's bath time.
Clifford doesn't want to get in the tub.
But he likes when Mommy soaps and scrubs him.
Now it's time for fun. Clifford floats on a bar of soap.
Oh, no! Puppy overboard!
Ducky comes to the rescue.* Clifford is safe.
Now it's time to come out, but Clifford wants to stay and play.
At last, Clifford is clean and dry. He really likes bath time.

* OK, so she missed this line!

More New Videos!

OK, so it's been two months since the last post. Things have been busy. But I'll try to make up for it with four new videos:

On Friday (12/22), Lois gave Cassie a new present. Cassie intently watched as Nicole unwrapped it, and then played with it herself (in between moments of dancing while seated). Then, on Sunday, I shot this video of Cassie at the playground. Today Cassie helped Nicole mail some New Year's cards.

What it's like when Cassie won't sleep

There are times, of course, when she screams. But we shouldn't overlook the times when Cassie is quite friendly but entirely uninterested in sleeping. Those moments may lack the overt drama of a good screamfest, but they have their own particular dramatic pleasures and pains:
