Polaroids are cool

Polaroid at diner

At lunch at the diner today, a man at a neighboring table offered to take a picture of Cassie and me with his Polaroid camera. Digital cameras rule, obviously, but there's still something magical about an instant camera. Cassie loved watching the photo emerge from the gray rectangle.

Since Polaroid has stopped making film for its cameras, it was a particularly cool and poignant moment.

(The rest of the lunch was no fun -- Cassie was tired, bored, and acutely unhappy with the "vegetables" in her tuna salad -- but the photo moment redeemed the whole outing.)
